The last event of the 2018 season for our association was a two-day picnic at the Jomsborg Fortress in Warsaw on September 8-9. We are glad that so many visitors came to the Fortress and our WICI stall, where we displayed a full selection of the products that we make by hand. We also presented the process of creating them, such as one-needle knitting (naalbinding), through which you can create wonderful woolen hand warmers, socks mittens, hats, etc. We also showed the mechanism of tablet weaving on a small table loom. Last but not least, we invited the visitors to try their hand at carving in lime wood – Anna presented how the stamps that had once been used to create patterns on fabrics were made. We used the stamps a bit differently – together with the visitors we stamped postcards with Viking motifs. Thank you to all participants, organizers and visitors for great fun, dancing, singing and chatting about everything. See you next season!
