Embroidery from the lands of ice

On Sunday, January 28, under the slogan “We create in winter!” we conducted yet another embroidery workshop. To our joy, this crafts is becoming more and more popular. This time we focused on traditional designs from Scandinavia, Lapland, as well as folk art of Siberian tribes. We started with a brief study of basic embroidery techniques. Next, we used the tracing paper to transfer selected patterns onto the fabric. Among the designs were plant and geometrical motifs, as well as represenations of nature and man inspired by the ornaments of shamanistic drums used by the Saami and and the Evenks.
