The last event of the 2019 reenactment season was the 9th Meeting of Slavs and Vikings “Perun Mountain 2019” in Bukowina Tatrzańska in the very southern tip of Poland. Possibly this is the most picturesque spot in Poland where reenactment events are organised. The festival takes place on the premises of the “Głodówka” mountain hostel, overlooking the Tatra mountains, from Havran to the Western Tatras.
The “Perun Mountain” festival is a small event where you can see early medieval warriors’ fights (duels and in groups), listen to medieval music and dance (this year the amazing “Daj ognia” band from Krakow played for us), as well as buy handicraft items inspired by early medieval finds such as pottery, leather work, wooden cutlery or hand woven belts and headbands. Despite the cold and wind, the event is popular and attracts an increasing number of reenactors and viewers.
For Wici, “Góra Peruna” is a time to rest, sum up the season, and celebrate all the beautiful moments we shared with our reenactment friends 🙂
