The midsummer night was one of the happiest celebrations in ancient times. There are many rituals and legends around it, including the story of the elusive fern flower which blooms only that night during the year. Kupala night is associated with the change of seasons – it is a celebration of the longest day of the year and an opportunity to have fun in the family and community. In addition to standard attractions for visitors such as fights and craft shows, Jomsborg Fortress staged rituals in honor of ancient gods.
